Itinerary

Day 1Arrive Paro and drive to Thimphu

  • Drive to Thimphu after arriving by plane at the Paro airport. Visit the medieval bridge constructed with centuries-old iron chains at Tachog Lhakhang. Visit Tashichho dzong, the capital and seat of the government, if time permits.

Day 2Thimphu (Cycling & Sightseeing)

  • Ride 25 kilometers. If you wish to hire a bike, we will head over to the rental store first thing in the morning and choose the perfect one for you. If not, we’ll get right to the program and ride through the town and climb the hill to Kuensel Phodrang, where there is a 54-meter-tall Buddha statue. Take in beautiful views of the Thimphu valley. Then take a ride back into town and stop by the Memorial Chorten, which is constantly bustling with worshippers. A monument was erected to honor Bhutan’s third monarch.
  • Keep riding through the town, across the well-known intersection’s major thoroughfare under the direction of the traffic police direction. Thimphu is renowned for being the only capital city in the world without traffic lights. Obtain Changlimithang Stadium. If you’re lucky, the national archery competition will be currently in progress! After lunch, ride your bicycle to the next attraction.
  • We will travel to the Changankha Lhakhang and see this revered shrine, which is frequented by parents seeking blessings for their kids. Continue riding to Motithang park, where you might spot the takin, Bhutan’s national animal. Then we will be riding along a scenic road with views of the town and the Tashichho dzong, which serves as the capital and seat of government. You can make a pit stop your route to the Zilukha Nunnery, one of the rare female-only monastic institutions.
  • Finish up your journey at the stunning Dechenphodrang temple. Ride back to the hotel and take a nap. You can meet young Bhutanese there or at another location if you’re in the mood to party.

Day 3Thimphu-Dobji Dzong(Drive) and Dobji Dzong -Haa (Cycling)

  • Travel 40–70 km, ascend 400–800 m, and descend 400–1200 m. We’ll set out early in the morning on the road that leads back to Paro. We shall take a side road leading to Haa district after the confluence, where rivers flowing from Paro and Thimphu meet.
  • As we ascend further, we will come across the picturesque Dobji Dzong, a monastery perched on a cliff and a previous prominent prison. Visit the temples and the monastery. If you feel strong enough to make the difficult route, you might now choose to begin your day’s ride. To escape the most of the day’s climbing, you can drive another 30 km till you reach the pass if you prefer an easy ride. You can visit Lhakhang Karpo, the “White temple,” in Haa valley after arriving there.
  • To try being a guest of a local family in a traditional home, one might spend the night in a motel or nearby farm. If you can go a day without taking a shower, it will be a worthwhile experience. Hot stone baths, a traditional Bhutanese treat, provide an alternative.

Day 4Haa-Paro (Cycling)

  • Take a 40-65 km ride. You can choose today whether you want to make the difficult and prolonged climb to Chele-la Pass (3850 m) on foot or if you want to let a vehicle drive you up. You had better get going as soon as possible if you choose to go by bicycle. If you opt for the latter, you can take some time off to relax by exploring the town or visiting Katsho Gompa (you can also cycle there; it is just a slight uphill), which offers lovely views of the valley and can be reached by foot or by bike. Depending on the weather, the view of Jomolhari (7326 m) and Kanchejunga (8586 m) to the north may be your reward for climbing to Chele-la Pass (3850 m).
  • Leaving the pass requires a lengthy descent. Be careful as you navigate the many twists in the forest. Finally, the expansive rice fields of Bondey village will welcome you to Paro valley. You will then take the top road, which offers excellent views of the Paro airport. If you’re lucky, you’ll see a plane lan.! After arriving at the hotel, you can relax or explore the bustling town with its many cafes, shops, and bars.

Day 5Paro(Cycling&Hiking)

  • Ride 25 km, climb 500 m, drop 500 m, and then trek for 4-5 hours. One of the highlights of the excursion will be the climb to Tiger’s Nest monastery today. Beginning our journey north from Paro, we will stop at the historic Kyichu Lhakhang Temple along the way. This temple was built in the seventh century. We’ll then leave the bikes in the parking lot and begin the climb. From the high cliff, the monastery offers a view of the valley. A 4- to 5-hour hike may be both challenging and gratifying.
  • After our hike, we’ll visit Paro dzong, the castle where Bernard Bertolucci filmed the Little Buddha movie, and then we’ll have the rest of the day free to relax or go shopping.

Day 6Departure

  • Travel away from Bhutan. Flight schedule will determine the program.
