Itinerary
Day 1Arrival: Drive to Thimphu
Flight to the airport in Paro, then drive to Thimphu. In the event that you arrive by land, drive for around five hours to Thimphu after crossing the border from India at Phuentsholing or Jaigaon. Visit Tachog Lhakhang to observe a historic bridge built from iron chains used in bygone times.
As soon as you arrive in Thimphu, take a trip to Changlimithang stadium to watch the Bhutanese sport of archery. From daylight to night, matches are being played.

Short hike in the morning that offers stunning views of the valley and its terraced paddy fields leads to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten.
You may choose to go rafting on the Mo Chhu (easily accessible) or Pho Chhu (excitingly challenging) rivers. Continue your tour by seeing Punakha Dzong, also known as the “Palace of the Great Happiness,” which was the winter residence of the Bhutanese monarchs and is the most elaborately decorated fortress in the entire kingdom.
Short stroll to the Chhimmy Lhakhang Temple, which is dedicated to the “Divine Madman” saint Drukpa Kunley, who is said to have taught Buddhism through singing, drinking, and scandalous sexual antics in the 15th century. Drive to Paro in the afternoon.
Day 4Paro

Enjoy your final night in Bhutan.

Day 5Departure
If you have the time, you can drive to Drukyel dzong to visit a recently restored castle and the sacred Jomolhari mountain’s summit in good visibility.
After that, you may either take a flight out of Paro or drive for around 5 hours to the land border at Phuentsholing.
