Tour variants, extensions and combinations

Trekking: It is simple to combine this tour with any trek, such as the Jomolhari Yaksa Trek (6 days) or the Druk Path Trek (5 days).

India extension: There is a chance to extend the trip to India via the Phuntsholing/Jaigaon land border. The outstanding elephant safari at Jaldhapara National Park is only a one-hour drive away. You can travel 5 hours to the mecca of tea lovers, Darjeeling, and another 2 hours to get to Gantok, the capital of Sikkim. We are happy to assist with making vacation plans in India as well.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival to Paro

  • Drive to the Paro airport viewpoint after arriving in Paro. You might witness planes landing and departing, depending on the timetable. The runway in Paro is renowned for being one of the toughest of all international airports in the world.
  • A visit to the National Museum in Ta dzong, the tower that serves as a watchtower for the Paro castle below.
  • Then, as you descend to Paro town, stop to see the quaint old bridge that runs beneath the Paro Dzong. Here, you can snap lovely pictures with a castle in the background while wearing Bhutanese clothing.

Day 2Hike to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest)

  • The tour’s unquestionable high point is the hike to Taktsang Gomba (The Tiger’s Nest)! Despite the climb’s appearance of difficulty, it is immensely rewarding. You can shorten your session in the café with a lovely view of the temple if you don’t feel particularly strong. If you still have the energy, you could climb up to Zangtopelri Lhakhang to see Tiger’s Nest from above.  Based on the weather, your health condition, and your tastes, you might think about trekking in the morning or early afternoon.
  • Drive to Thimphu after your hike, stopping on route to witness a traditional bridge made from reclaimed iron chains at Tachog Lhakhang. Visit Changlimithang Stadium to watch the Bhutanese sport of archery. After the hike in the morning, relax. You can choose to go to the well-known Mojo Park nightclub or one of the other well-liked Thimphu places.

Day 3Thimphu

  • Visit Dochula pass which stands magnificently at 3100 meters above sea level. In good visibility, the mountain range is breathtaking.
  • Go to the enormous Buddha statue that overlooks the valley on the way back to Thimphu.
  • The traffic cops are signaling at intersections as you walk down Norzin Lam Street. Finish your walk by shopping at the handicraft market, where you may find and purchase various wonderful Bhutanese trinkets.
  • Conclude your tour by visiting the Folk Heritage Museum’s exhibit on Bhutanese traditional village life. If not, feel free to spend some time by yourself wandering about the town. Visit to the beautiful Tashichho dzong castle, the seat of the king and the government, in the late afternoon.

Day 4Departure

  • If you have the time, you can travel to Drugyel dzong to visit a recently restored castle and the sacred Jomolhari mountain’s peak in good visibility.
  • After that, you may either take a flight out of Paro or drive for around 5 hours to land at the border town via Phuentsholing.
